Kurn’s owner’s favorite memory of time spent with his dog was on walks through the Redwoods outside San Francisco. So when he requested that I include a representation of the Redwoods in the background of his portrait, I just loved that idea. Small touches like the background, a collar design or even a name tag can really personalize the portrait. I hope this artwork will do a small part to help keep Kurn’s memory alive and remind his family of their wonderful times together.
A celebrity is among us! Meet Lucille Bald, who, in 2006, had the honor of being named Animal Planet’s “World’s 3rd Ugliest Dog!” Lucille Bald is a Chinese Crested Hairless and my first portrait of this breed. I was so excited to receive the photo of her when she was first commissioned, how could you not love that face?!? However, I knew I had my work cut out for me to capture her true “ugliness”. She was known for being “so ugly she’s cute”, so I really wanted her portrait to represent not only her award-winning ugliness, but also her spirit and what her parents loved about her. The yellow background, a request from my client, was the perfect finishing touch. Learn more about Lucille Bald on her website lucillebald.com.
I love this saucy little puppy on her hot pink cheetah background! This was specifically requested by my client to match a pillow in the room where the artwork will hang.
I just finished and shipped this portrait of Amalita, a gorgeous cat belonging to the extremely funny and insightful Tom and Lorenzo, who write one of my most favorite blogs, tomandlorenzo.com. I first started following them years ago when they started blogging about Project Runway. Since then they’ve branched out a bit and I now rely on them for my daily fix of fashion, red carpet judging, Mad Men recaps (the best!), reality TV rehashing (they love Bravo as much as I do) and basically anything else that they find fabulous and interesting. I was elated at how much they loved their portrait and very excited to see they posted it on their facebook fan page for all their fans (who they affectionately refer to as “bitter kittens”) to see. Only a TLo fan could understand the pleasure I took in hearing them refer to me as Bitter Kitten Extraordinaire! :) Thanks TLo!
today is so gloomy and blah and this picture just makes me happy and long for summer…
